Intro to the Main Character, and what I've read so far...
All his life Kyle Kingsbury has gotten special treatment because he looks good on the outside–physical beauty, wealth, intelligence (although it's frequently not applied to school). When he decides to invite Kendra Hilferty, the new scholarship student at his privileged school to the upcoming dance (as a joke with the intent of humiliating her and not in sincerity mind you), his special treatment works against him. After the dance, Kendra turns up at Kyle’s house. Kyle quickly discovers Kendra is actually a witch with the power to treat him the way he has treated others most of his life–as less than human–as beasts. She turns him into a beast (the run away screaming, lots of fur and claws kind). His quest is to find true love before two years and to prove it he must get a kiss from her { 2 years because his girlfriend, found a rose to cheap for her corsage (she had requested a purple orchid to match her dress), the remains of the rose were 2 petals that were in his pocket}. I find this story (so far-don't know how it's gonna end) were similar to Beauty and the Beast. The elements found in Beastly that are not, however, present in Beauty and the Beast include location, names, obviously the modern ways, etc. The thing that sets both books the farthest distance from each other is, the fact of how, chatting sessions is interspersed throughout the book. Iwill talk more about these chatting sessions in later posts...
