I finished the book!!

I finally finished the book that I started reading yesterday (Beastly). A hearty 371 pages did good to put me to sleep last night. Here's what happened throughout the rest of the book.
At first Kyle and his famous newscaster father try to “fix” his outer/inner ugliness by pleading with medical specialists to do something, but they plead to no avail. Unfortunately for Kyle, his beastliness is a part of him–a manifestation of who he has been on the inside for many years. Fortunately for Kyle, Kendra saw him perform one kindness the night of the dance when he gave a rose to the ticket taker (neither he or his date found a mere rose worthy), so she gives him a chance: “You’ve lived your life being cruel. But in the hours before your transformation you performed one small kindness. It is because of this one bit of goodness that I see fit to offer you a second chance, because of the rose.”
Since it wasn’t much of a kindness, it isn’t much of a chance, but Kendra does tell Kyle that he has “two years to find someone willing to look beyond your hideousness and see some good in you, something to love. If you will love her in return and if she will kiss you to prove it, the spell will be lifted, and you will be your handsome self again. If not, you’ll stay a beast forever.”
When Kyle’s dad washes his hands of Kyle and ships him off with a housekeeper and a tutor to a house in a more rural locale, Kyle begins to change (some may argue a little too quickly and unrealistically, but change he does). He changes his name (who knew that one meaning for Kyle is “fair and handsome“?) to Adrian, he changes his lifestyle (he takes up gardening and reading as pastimes), and he changes his attitude (adding a dollop of humility and a smattering of empathy and compa ssion).
He also joins a chat group from which transcripts of the chat sessions are interspersed throughout the story. Joining BeastNYC in the chat room are SilentGirl, Froggie, and GrizzlyGuy. Having creatures from other tales populate the group and share their own worries and woes creates entertaining discussions. These sessions add comic relief and help reveal Kyle/Adrian’s changing attitudes and feelings.
The longer Kyle/Adrian exists as a beast on the outside, the less beastly he becomes on the inside. Of course, there is the whole kidnapping of Lindy incident (who incidentally was the impetus for his good deed involving the rose), but that’s a necessary plot point paving the way to the inevitable happy ending. After all, it’s going to take a girl awhile to adjust to that much hair on a guy, and he’s only got two years.

I won't reveal the ending of the book, as it will spoil the juicy flavor of the meat (the book, in my slang terms). Overall I'm happy to say that this book was a joy to read. I recommend it to readers aged from 10 to 13, due to the content that is placed in the book ( cuss words are occasional in the book). This modern Baeuty and the Beast with a twist is sure to please...
Happy Reading!!! ( did I just say that?)

Intro to the Main Character, and what I've read so far...

All his life Kyle Kingsbury has gotten special treatment because he looks good on the outside–physical beauty, wealth, intelligence (although it's frequently not applied to school). When he decides to invite Kendra Hilferty, the new scholarship student at his privileged school to the upcoming dance (as a joke with the intent of humiliating her and not in sincerity mind you), his special treatment works against him. After the dance, Kendra turns up at Kyle’s house. Kyle quickly discovers Kendra is actually a witch with the power to treat him the way he has treated others most of his life–as less than human–as beasts. She turns him into a beast (the run away screaming, lots of fur and claws kind). His quest is to find true love before two years and to prove it he must get a kiss from her { 2 years because his girlfriend, found a rose to cheap for her corsage (she had requested a purple orchid to match her dress), the remains of the rose were 2 petals that were in his pocket}. I find this story (so far-don't know how it's gonna end) were similar to Beauty and the Beast. The elements found in Beastly that are not, however, present in Beauty and the Beast include location, names, obviously the modern ways, etc. The thing that sets both books the farthest distance from each other is, the fact of how, chatting sessions is interspersed throughout the book. Iwill talk more about these chatting sessions in later posts...

Formatting of Beastly (the book I'm reading)

The book is divided into six part, each containg chapters starting from chapter 1. Confused? Okay, say I'm in part 5, the last chapter in part 4 was chapter 7. Then the first chapter of part 5 would be one ('xacly, same reason why I'm kinda still confounded).

The Book... Not just any any book, but THE book!!

Hey, I just wanted ya'll (excuse my slightly Texan accent) to have a look at my book, I will try to post a couple of preview pages to compliment the cover in the next few days. The libarian recommended this book due to the absence of the book I had previously chosen. So if it isn't a good book I'll blame it on her. This kinda random, but I got in trouble yesterday for tattooing my ankle ( I wasn't actually tattooing my ankle, I just drew all over it). I'll try to upload a picture of it, that is if I can find my camera. Also are my extras annoying, please let me know ASAP by commenting!!!

Why I've been busy...

Okay, so I've finally gotten some time to read a couple of pages in my book. I've been really busy lately ( even thought its spring break), I am particapting in this play, to fundraise for young cancer patients, I'm also in this organization ( Dallas Kids Service) to volunteer for senior citizens. We are going to go to senior citizens' homes and make their yards more appealing! So I'm deeply involved in volunteering not only for college hours, but also for the benifits it has. It also gives your heart a fuzzy feeling of warmth knowing that you've just made a person's day brighter.
